Understanding Page Templates
Page Template is a special page that is used to control many pages made on its basis. The Page Templates are stored under System folder in the Site Map Window. The pages made with the templates inherit the layout and the blocks from the template. If the layout or the block is amended on the template all pages based on the template will be affected. This way itâÀ™s possible to control site-wide design or content change.
Another feature provided by the template is a possibility of block-level access rights implementation. This is made with a Combined Page Template âÀ“ a template constituted of a number of underlining templates. The blocks put on lower levels of Combined Page Template wonâÀ™t be editable on the pages based on the Combined Page Template.
The page could also be made without a template. In this case it will be possible to add blocks right to the page, rather that to the template.
